I have a new cordless home phone – one of the buttons is marked ‘R’. In the manual it says this is the ‘flash button’ but gives no more detail than this. I have another phone where a button says ‘recall/flash’ – I assume this is the same function. I use this to answer call waiting, but want to know why is is called ‘recall/flash’ instead of just something like ‘cw’ for call waiting. Does it have any other functions?
As far as why they call it flash, I do not know, but I do know that flash is also used to make a three-way call. Say I’m on the phone with steve and we want to call mary, I press flash, upon hearing the dial tone I dial Mary’s number, once I hear ringing I press flash again to add Steve in the call to mary. Hope I didn’t confuse you =)

ur phone has more than one line on it when in a call if you hear a beep it means that you have another call waiting if you press flash it will direct you to the person calling but don’t worry it won’t disconnect you from the previous person to get back to the person just hit flash again and you will be back to talking with the original person.
